Director of Housing Assistance

FLSA Status: Exempt

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position is responsible for overseeing the Section 8 programs, including Inspections, of the Authority. Responsible for application processing, re-examination process, interim adjustments, quality control, problem resolution and assessment of performance, for all Section 8 programs including voucher, single room occupancy program, project based certificate program, and mod-rehabilitation program. Establish policies and procedures to achieve goals. Evaluate accomplishments through the review of routine and special reports. Assist in the formulation of plans and programs, evaluation of existing programs, and establishment of organization goals as a member of the Authority’s administrative management team.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, social sciences or closely related field plus 10 years of progressively responsible experience in public housing or property management, which includes a minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience, planning, and fiscal responsibility, and the use of computers in maintaining records, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Master’s degree preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to sit in an office environment, walk upstairs to meet with clientele, able to lift up to 15 lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Most of the work will be in an environment with air conditioning but some may be held out doors.

LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION: Must be insurable by JHA’s insurance and possess a valid Florida Driver’s License.

SALARY RANGE:        [$49,117 - $57,223]               $65,327                      $73,433

We anticipate hiring between the minimum and first quartile of the range, depending upon previous similar experience. Existing JHA employees may be eligible for above the first quartile but not above the top range.
