Celebrating 30 Years of Rich History

One Agency - One Community - One Mission

Our History: 2005-2014
Jacksonville Housing Authority entered its second decade of operation with a stable foundation and goals for the future.

2006 - The first residents of the brand-new Brentwood Lake Apartments moved in, making it a neighborhood once again, 14 months after demolition. By March 2007, the renovations at Brentwood Lakes Apartments are completed.

2009 - JHA was one of 134 housing authorities across the country to receive HUD funding through The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (Recovery Act) to create energy efficient communities by rehabilitating existing public housing units and installing Energy Star appliances and programmable thermostats. The funding allowed "green" updates to be made to five JHA housing complexes and additional Jacksonville Beach scattered sites.

2011 - Expanding its affordable housing portfolio, JHA purchased Carrington Place Apartments. The community, close to downtown and the beaches, offers one and two bedroom apartments, providing additional public housing options for Jacksonville residents.

2013 - After two decades of transforming the community, Ronnie Ferguson retired as President and CEO of the Jacksonville Housing Authority.

Ferguson left behind a safer and sounder public housing community and set the agency on a path to success.
