The Resident Advisory Board (RAB) of the Jacksonville, Florida Inc. consists of resident leaders from all public housing communities. They are elected officers that represents the twenty-two communities that are managed by Jacksonville Housing.
The mission of the RAB is to empower low to moderate income level residents including Housing Choice Voucher recipients in their quest to become self-sufficient by advocating for the needs and collaborating with other organizations to ensure that services are provided. The members of RAB plays a significant role in helping to develop the Annual PHA Plan and the Admissions and Occupancy Policies. The input given by the RAB helps Jacksonville Housing to continue providing clean, safe and affordable housing to low to moderate citizens in this community.
The RAB is governed by a set of by-laws. The RAB holds monthly meetings and have an election of officers every three years.
The accomplishments of the RAB include collaborating with Jacksonville Housing to promote services provided at the Neighborhood Network Center in Brentwood Lake and Fairway Oaks that include GED classes and basic typing classes and co-sponsoring Annual Events such as Entrepreneurship Fairs, the Homeownership, Job and Career Fair, and the Senior Adult Participation Day.
