Employee Benefits
JH is proud to offer a comprehensive benefits package to our full-time employees. Below is a summary of the benefits offered.
Health: Employees choose between a Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) and a Point of Service (POS) plan. JH pays a portion of premium for single coverage and a portion for dependent coverage.
Dental: Employees choose between a Dental Maintenance Organization (DHMO) and a Dental Preferred Provider Organization (DPPO). There are several options from which the employee may choose.
Vision: Employees choose between a Vision Basic and Vision Premier Plan. There are several options from which the employee may choose.
Term Life Insurance: JH provides group term life insurance equal to the employee's base annual earnings. Employees may purchase up to three times of their base annual earnings.
Long Term Disability Insurance: Employees are provided with a long term disability insurance plan. This plan provides 60% of the employee's basic monthly earnings after 60-days of continuous disability.
Holidays: Employees receive 12 paid holidays per year, as follows: New Years Day, Martin Luther King's Birthday, Presidents' Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Friday after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. In addition, employees receive one (1) personal leave day per year to use during the current fiscal year.
Personal Leave: New employees begin accruing personal leave immediately, earning 160 hours of annual leave during their first year and which may be used after successful completion of their probationary period. Employees accrue 6.15 hours of annual leave each pay period during their first four (4) years of service, and the amount of annual leave accrued each pay period increases after five (5), ten (10), fifteen (15), twenty (20), and twenty-five (25) years of service with Jacksonville Housing.
Retirement: JH is the member of the COJ Retirement System and makes monthly contributions in the employee's name to the COJ Pension fund. This is more commonly known as a "Pension Plan." Deferred Compensation Plan: Employees also have an option to make pre-tax contributions into a 457(b) plan. Several investment options are available for employees.
Educational Assistance: Employees with a minimum of six months of service are eligible for educational assistance. Courses must be pre-approved by a supervisor and be used towards earning a degree that will assist JH in accomplishing our Mission and Vision Statement. Reimbursement is based on the University of North Florida tuition schedule in effect at the time of the course is taken. Employees must earn at least a grade C for the educational assistance.
Voluntary Benefits: JH also offers its employees the option to pick up additional voluntary benefits including but not limited to short-term disability, dependent life insurance and Accident and Critical Illness.
